Bangladesh Beth Myriam

Beth Myriam Dhaka

TLIG helpers in the Beth Myriam

Summary

The Beth Myriam in Dhaka opened 6 years ago, in December 1999, by serving 10 needy people from the nearby slum areas.

Poor people happily waiting for their turn to eat

Today, there are 100 people of all ages - needy men, women and children - that are coming daily at 12noon for a hot meal from the slum area. They are served lunch according to a weekly balanced menu with adequate calorific content that consists of beef, chicken or fish curry, accompanied by the traditional rice, vegetables, salad and dhal, banana for fruit.

Since March 2001, this Beth Myriam hosts also a Bangla school class every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, from 4.00-5.00pm, for 25-30 children from the slums, between the ages of 5 and 12 that attend to receive the basic education of reading, writing and arithmetic. An English class for children is functioning as well at the same days and hours as above. Milk and biscuits are given to all at the end of every class.

Medical support, clothing, shoes, mosquito nets, etc. are also among the material help provided to anyone in need from the guests of the Beth Myriam.

The lunch boxes distributed during Ramadan

Those who come to eat are encouraged to say their own prayers before the meals. Out of respect for their religious practices, the Beth Myriam helpers prepare special lunch boxes for the poor people to take home during Ramadan. Vassula visited this Beth Myriam in Nov. '05 and was very pleased to see the joy of both those serving and those being served.

Answers To Objections on TLIG
Over the past few years, a number of objections have been heard by this author and in general by those who evangelize on the inspirations of True Life In God, received by Vassula Ryden (“Vassula”) most commonly referred to as the “Messages of TLIG"

Archangel Michael of Mantamado
In the Mantamados area was located a monastery for men dedicated to the Archangels Michael and Gabriel and All the Angels, whose founding is lost in the depths of the centuries.

Archangel Michael of Mantamado in 2009 Pilgrimage
Some time ago, Vassula asked a TLIG friend to gather some information about Archangel Michael of Mantamado, the patron saint of the beautiful island of Lesvos (Mytilini).
